So apparently the NY Laura Marling trip is already being planned by my sister. She’s decided we need to go to Marie’s Crisis Cafe afterwards… if you don’t know Marie’s, google it.
(I discovered that place accidentally, and I have to say, even if you don’t like show tunes, that place is amazing.)

(it arrives quick, too, for the Americans who may have been wanting it. I emailed her last week.)

In case anyone was wondering, the Idiot Wind EP is absolutely gorgeous.
Her cover of Mama, You’ve Been on My Mind may have actually be next to the Bob and Joan duet from the bootleg tapes vol. 5 (Live 1975) on the scale of awesome, which in my opinion has to be the best one out there.

iwhospeakawkwardly asked: Do you think you might go to the free Brooklyn Gig? I'm definitely going to go since it's right before my birthday and I know I'll have money for the train and subway. SO EXCITING.

sylviagetyourheadouttheoven replied to your photo: Just got some absolutely lovely mail, all the way…
I’ve been debating getting this for ages! Didn’t know she was sending them out free!
Yeah, I was excited when I saw that it was, at least for non-europeans. Although, I would have gladly paid for it.

The New Yorker: Poem to Daniel Pearl →
I’ll admit, this just made me tear up. Quite beautiful.
newyorker:

US Laura Marling fans
Alas I Cannot Swim and I Speak Because I Can are both being reissued on vinyl, on March 13th. I don’t see a reissue date for UKers, but there’s a slot for it on the UK Amazon, so it may be the same date for you guys. Looks to be the standard tracklisting for both and they’ll both be reissued on 180g vinyl as well.
Pre-order from the US Amazon store or Soundstage Direct.

Samuel Barnett and Johnny Flynn in Twelfth Night... →
Oh my good lord, Johnny’s playing Viola in Twelfth Night! My favorite part in the whole wide world! I’ve loved that play since I acted out Viola in my high school Shakespeare class.
